The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Mrs Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and Mr Vo Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, signed the MoU.

“Strengthening cooperation in agriculture is essential, as it creates new opportunities to support the development of the sector. I believe that the partnership between Georgia and Vietnam will help facilitate the implementation of mutually beneficial projects,” said Mrs Nino Tandilashvili.

The MoU provides for the promotion of agricultural and fishery product exports and imports; the exchange of experience in the agricultural sector; the organisation of study visits and seminars; the development of cooperation among experts, professionals, scientists, and trainees; collaboration in agricultural and fishery production, scientific research, and scientific education; and enhanced cooperation in animal health, plant protection, and sanitary and phytosanitary matters.

A delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, is currently on an official visit to Georgia. As part of the visit, the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in various fields is planned.

Mr Le Thanh Van, a representative of Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, attended the meeting, along with representatives from relevant Departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Georgia.
