Lasha Dolidze: “The Export Process for Peaches and Nectarines Is Proceeding Steadily”

Peach and nectarine exports have reached 17,000–18,000 tonnes in Georgia during the current season. According to Mr Lasha Dolidze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, export prices have remained broadly unchanged since last year.  However, the delays experienced in the export process last week have now largely been resolved.

“Exports of peaches and nectarines currently stand at between 17,000 and 18,000 tonnes.  As for export prices, there has been no significant change compared with last year, with only minor fluctuations observed.

Certain delays were reported in the export process last week; however, these issues have now been practically resolved. The process is proceeding steadily. The produce that had been held at the border and in refrigerated storage facilities is gradually being cleared for export. I believe the export process will continue smoothly and conclude with satisfactory results.

As for state support, the agricultural co-financing programme was recently renewed and revised. Supporting peach and nectarine production will remain one of our key priorities. In addition, we are considering implementing targeted measures to promote the dissemination of knowledge and expertise. This will enable us to identify better export markets and produce higher-quality products,” Mr Lasha Dolidze stated.
