During a working visit to Italy, David Songulashvili met with Dragan Glamočić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia.

“I would like to emphasize the strong ties between Georgia and Serbia, which provide a solid foundation for further enhancing our partnership. The ongoing negotiations on a free trade agreement clearly demonstrate the deepening of relations between our countries. It is also important to mention that we highly value Serbia’s experience in the process of European Union integration and express our readiness to share best practices,” stated Minister Songulashvili.

As mentioned, the two countries hold significant prospects for collaboration, especially in exchanging expertise on quality standards and certification systems. The discussions also highlighted the value of joint initiatives in promoting climate-smart agriculture, ensuring sustainable land management, and supporting the development of organic farming.

“I am pleased to have met with my colleague, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili. We explored ways to further strengthen our cooperation and long-standing partnership, which was notably reinforced by the Georgian President’s recent visit to Serbia in December. I am confident that our sectoral cooperation, already at a high level, will deepen even further. Our agricultural sectors have strong potential to complement each other, as we share many common features, including a rich wine culture. Georgia is a country with a long-standing tradition in winemaking and distinctive wine production methods,” stated Minister Glamočić.

Mrs. Tamar Liluashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Italy; Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency; and Mr. David Chitaishvili, Head of the International Relations and EU Integration Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, also attended the meeting.
