Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Lasha Dolidze and Lasha Avaliani, met with representatives of the tea sector

During the meeting, the parties discussed key challenges facing the tea industry, including increasing the visibility and recognition of Georgian tea, improving access to financing, strengthening legislative and regulatory frameworks, and promoting knowledge-sharing mechanisms to support the development of the sector.


As mentioned, safeguarding producers’ interests and addressing their needs remains one of the top priorities for the state. In this regard, the Ministry is currently revising existing state programs and developing new initiatives. These efforts will be based on the needs identified by sector representatives and will aim to foster industry development and enhance the competitiveness of Georgian tea.

 

''During the working meeting with representatives of the tea sector, detailed information was presented on the current situation, including the challenges facing the industry, legislative matters, regulatory mechanisms, financing, knowledge dissemination, standards, and other relevant issues. We listened carefully to stakeholders’ views and are in the process of defining a joint working format. Hopefully, this cooperation will continue successfully. Similar working meetings will also be scheduled with representatives of other sectors,” stated Mr. Lasha Dolidze.



The Director of the Rural Development Agency, Mr. Zurab Gozalishvili, Director of the Scientific-Research Centre of Agriculture, Mr. Levan Ujmajuridze, as well as heads of the Ministry’s relevant departments, attended the meeting.
