David Songulashvili: Cycling tourism promotes a healthy lifestyle and creates opportunities for local tourism and economic growth.

At the initiative of the wine company Château Zegaani, an international cycling competition is being held in the Kakheti region.

The two-day event brings together more than 150 professional cyclists from various countries.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, and the State Representative in the Kakheti region, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, attended the opening ceremony.

The international cycling competition organized by Château Zegaani aims to boost cycling tourism, promote a healthy lifestyle, and popularize wine culture in Georgia, contributing to Kakheti’s tourism and economic growth. Such initiatives are common in leading European wine regions.

“Cycling tourism not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also creates a favorable environment for the development of local tourism and, consequently, the economy. It is particularly inspiring when traditional wineries support the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. This approach simultaneously fosters the implementation of projects important for the region and highlights the social responsibility of the private sector,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.

Guests attending the event had the opportunity to explore booths from various bicycle manufacturers, take part in a special wine bottling session dedicated to the occasion, and learn about the prospects for eco-friendly tourism development in the region.

The cycling competition will conclude with an award ceremony, during which the top three cyclists will be announced.
