David Songulashvili Meets with Environmental Supervision Department Staff in the Ambrolauri Municipality.


During a visit to Ambrolauri Municipality, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. David Songulashvili met with the staff of the Environmental Supervision Department.

As mentioned, preventing, detecting, and responding to illegal logging remains the top priority for the Department’s team in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region.


“Environmental protection is a top priority for the Government of Georgia. Accordingly, the Agency responsible for environmental oversight has received and will continue to receive strong institutional support. To enhance the effectiveness of oversight, we are actively strengthening the Environmental Supervision Department, which includes the construction and rehabilitation of regional offices,” stated Minister David Songulashvili.

Renovation work at the Environmental Supervision Department’s Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regional office in the Ambrolauri Municipality commenced in June 2025. Upon completion, the facility will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technical resources, in compliance with the highest operational standards.

 

Mr. Papuna Margvelidze, State Representative in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region; Mr. Gocha Enukidze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia, representing Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region, and representatives of local self-government, accompanied the Minister.
