David Songulashvili: “Veterinary Procedures, Safety Control, and Pest Management Are Crucial Factors in the Production Chain”.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the Akhaltsikhe regional office of the National Food Agency to review ongoing renovation works.

The Minister received detailed information on the progress and challenges of the National Food Agency’s state programs.

As mentioned, animal husbandry is a well-developed sector in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, making veterinary measures critically important for the prevention of animal diseases across the region.

Minister Songulashvili noted that multiple components play significant roles in the development of the agricultural sector.

“The activities of the National Food Agency encompass three key areas — veterinary services, phytosanitary control, and food safety — all of which integrate essential measures without which it is impossible to develop agriculture according to international standards. In the production chain, veterinary procedures, safety control, and pest management are among the most critical factors,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.

The Deputy Minister, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze; Mr. Anton Obolashvili, Member of Parliament representing Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Borjomi, and Aspindza Municipalities, the State Representative of Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Mr. Zaal Gelashvili, Chairman of the Akhaltsikhe Municipal Assembly, Mr. David Lomidze, and the Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Zurab Chekurashvili, accompanied the Minister.
