David Songulashvili: “The State Supports Entrepreneurs at Every Stage of Their Activities”

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the LTD  Geo Flower fruit and medicinal plant processing facility located in the village of Klde, Akhaltsikhe Municipality.

“Entrepreneurs receive support from the state at every stage of their activities. This enables them to grow their businesses rapidly and produce competitive products that are in demand both locally and internationally. The government remains committed to addressing the needs of farmers and entrepreneurs,” said Minister Songulashvili during the visit.

LTD Geo Flower is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency and participates in the Preferential Agrocredit program. Additionally, the company was involved last year in a government initiative aimed at supporting the sale of substandard apple crops.

The Klde-based facility is equipped to dry and process up to 2 tonnes of medicinal herbs and 5 tonnes of fruit tea daily. It operates under the ISO 22000 food safety management system and employs 200 seasonal and 40 permanent staff. The company exports its products, sold under the “Monti” brand, to markets including the European Union, Russia, and Turkey.

Notably, under the Preferential Agrocredit program, the company has installed a small-scale solar power plant to supply renewable energy to its operations, improving both sustainability and efficiency.

Geo Flower also operates a facility in the Ambrolauri Municipality.

Minister Songulashvili was accompanied by Deputy Minister, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, State Representative in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Mr. Zaal Gelashvili, Chairman of Akhaltsikhe Municipality City Council, Mr. David Lomidze, and Acting Director of the Rural Development Agency, Giorgi Avaliani.

As part of the Preferential Agrocredit initiative, which supports the establishment and growth of processing enterprises, banks across Georgia have issued 3,630 loans totaling over GEL 1.3 billion. The Rural Development Agency’s co-financing has exceeded GEL 326.6 million. Specifically in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, 229 loans worth GEL 29.3 million have been issued, with co-financing of over GEL 7.8 million from the Agency.
