David Songulashvili Visits Akhaltsikhe Laboratory to Review Ongoing Work Process

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, recently visited the Akhaltsikhe laboratory to get familiar with its operations and meet with staff members.

During his visit, Minister Songulashvili inspected the laboratory’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, which is equipped with modern standards. The Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, Mr. Irakli Guledani, provided detailed information on the laboratory’s current activities, including diagnostics of diseases caused by particularly dangerous animal pathogens, as well as research on food and drinking water safety.

“Our goal is to strengthen laboratory capacities, adopt innovative research methods, and further enhance the quality of services. This will contribute to the development of safe and high-quality agricultural production both regionally and nationwide,” stated Minister Songulashvili.

Accurate and timely diagnostics remain essential for ensuring food safety and healthy production. The laboratory’s diagnostic capabilities are continuously expanding, enabling the population of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region to benefit from more efficient animal disease diagnostics and food research. This year, the Akhaltsikhe laboratory plans to introduce new research methods in both animal disease diagnostics and food safety analysis.
