David Songulashvili: “It is essential for us to ensure that high-quality services are available to the population.”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, met with the employees of the Borjomi regional office of the National Food Agency.
The Minister was briefed on the progress of state programs on food safety, veterinary medicine, and plant protection that are currently being implemented in the region.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges and existing needs, mentioning that currently, renovation work is underway at the Borjomi regional office of the National Food Agency.
The Minister emphasized the need for appropriate infrastructure to ensure the effective functioning of the Agency, noting that it is essential for employees of the National Food Agency to have suitable working conditions, on the one hand, and for the local population to have access to the Agency’s services and state programs, on the other hand.
The National Food Agency continuously carries out state control of food safety in all municipalities of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region (Borjomi, Ninotsminda, Adigeni, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Aspindza), free vaccination of animals against diseases provided for by the state program, and plant protection measures.
The Deputy Minister, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, State Representative in the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, Mr. Zaal Gelashvili, MP of Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Borjomi, and Aspindza to the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Anton Obolashvili, Mayor of Borjomi Municipality, Mr. Otar Arbolishvili, Chairman of the Borjomi Municipality Sakrebulo, Mr. Davit Zaalishvili, Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Zurab Chekurashvili, and representatives of other Agencies of the Ministry, accompanied the Minister.
