David Songulashvili Visits the Trout Farm in Gori Municipality

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited a trout farming facility in Gori Municipality to observe the production process on-site.

 

The farm, operated by LTD ‘’DS Fish Group’’, is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency. The company has repeatedly utilized the Preferential Agrocredit program. With an annual production capacity of approximately 250 tonnes of various fish species, the enterprise employs over 100 people. Both fresh and processed fish products are sold through the company’s branded store and restaurant.

 

As mentioned, the Ministry is working in multiple directions to ensure the production of healthy and high-quality products. In Shida Kartli, the State Laboratory of Agriculture ensures rapid and reliable diagnostic services for fish diseases, as well as testing for fish as a food product.

Since 2013, under the Prefential Agrocredit Program, a total of 1,646 loans exceeding GEL 146 million have been issued to support the development of aquaculture as of May 31, 2025. The Rural Development Agency’s co-financing amounts to approximately GEL 23 million. Of this, in the Shida Kartli region alone, loans totaling GEL 64 million have been issued, with co-financing of around GEL 9.5 million.

 

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  David Songulashvili, was accompanied by Deputy Minister Kaha Kakabadze, State Representative in the Shida Kartli Region, Mr.  Simon Guleldani, Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Zurab Chekurashvili, Members of Parliament, as well as representatives of institutions under the Ministry and local self-government bodies.
