David Songulashvili: “Enhancing the Capacity of the National Food Agency’s Regional Offices Has Significantly Contributed to the Effective Implementation of Its Mandate”
Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, met with staff of the National Food Agency’s regional office in the Shida Kartli region.
During the meeting, the Minister was briefed on the measures implemented in the region in the areas of food safety, veterinary services, and plant protection, as well as the key challenges faced by the sector.
Minister Songulashvili emphasized the importance of food safety, phytosanitary, and veterinary standards in ensuring the production of competitive, high-quality products.
As mentioned, strengthening the capacity of the National Food Agency’s regional offices has significantly improved the agency’s ability to perform its duties effectively.
Across the region, state food safety inspections are being carried out continuously, alongside free vaccination campaigns for animals and phytosanitary measures targeting plant pests. Additionally, specialized agrochemical and pesticide shops are subject to ongoing monitoring and inspection.
The Deputy Minister, Mr. Kaha Kakabadze, State Representative in Shida Kartli region, Mr. Simon Guleldani, Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Zurab Chekurashvili, Members of Parliament, as well as representatives from agencies under the Ministry and local self-government authorities, accompanied the Minister.
