David Songulashvili: “Supporting Georgian Production Remains Our Top Priority”
Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited livestock farms and related facilities in Kaspi Municipality. In the village of Kavtiskhevi, he toured the cattle farm, animal feed production facility, and associated infrastructure operated by Family Farm and FFF Georgia. The Minister also visited the pig farm Akhali Ferma located in the village of Khandaki.
At the modern-standard farm, Minister David Songulashvili was introduced to the principles of the animal feeding system, while also receiving detailed information on biosecurity protocols and veterinary control mechanisms. He toured a facility currently under construction, which, once operational, will allow the company to expand its production capacity.
During the visit to the animal feed production site, special attention was given to grain intake, quality control processes, and storage management.
Mr. Songulashvili emphasised the importance of supporting Georgian production, noting that the government continues to implement a wide range of projects and programs aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector.
Through these initiatives, farmers and entrepreneurs have access to preferential agrocredit, modern agricultural machinery, support for adopting international standards, development of processing and storage infrastructure, orchard establishment, installation of modern irrigation systems, and various other targeted assistance measures.
As mentioned, Shida Kartli holds a significant role in the development of the cattle farming sector. The region is home to several high-productivity farms that produce an essential share of the country’s livestock products. These farms make a substantial contribution to ensuring national food security.
The companies Family Farm and FFF Georgia are beneficiaries of various government support programs. LTD Family Farm has utilised the Preferential Agrocredit program as well as the Co-financing Program for Harvesting Agricultural Machinery.
Meanwhile, FFF Georgia received GEL 500,000 in co-financing for the establishment of a grain storage facility. With the support of a state program, the company adopted the HACCP food safety standard at its grain storage site.
At LTD Family Farm, the current daily production reaches 16 tonnes of raw milk, all of which is sold on the local market. Starting next year, with the launch of the farm’s full production cycle, the daily output is expected to increase to 30 tonnes per day.
Minister David Songulashvili also visited the pig farm Akhali Ferma in the village of Khandaki, Kaspi Municipality. The farm, a beneficiary of the Prefential Agrocredit program, operates with a production capacity of 13,000 pigs.
