David Songulashvili Meets with the UN Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, hosted the UN Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Gwi Yeop Son.
The parties focused on developing the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Georgia, which will outline strategic areas of cooperation for 2026–2030.
Minister Songulashvili reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to being involved in the drafting process of the framework document, emphasising the importance of continued collaboration.
The Minister thanked the United Nations Development Cooperation Office for its long-standing and fruitful partnership.
“The UN supports the sustainable development of our country’s agricultural and environmental fields. The meeting reaffirms our readiness to deepen our strategic partnership and create new opportunities for cooperation,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.
Ms Gwi Yeop Son highlighted the significance of reducing carbon emissions and discussed potential avenues for climate change collaboration.
“Georgia holds significant agricultural potential. The UN remains committed to supporting the country in both environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development,” she stated.
The Deputy Minister, Mr Lasha Dolidze, representatives from the Ministry, and officials from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) also attended the meeting.
