In the first three months of 2025, Georgia's agri-food exports reached a value of USD 371 million, marking a 1.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Exports to the European Union also saw an upward trend, with a growth of USD 5.8 million, bringing the total to USD 47.3 million.

This increase was largely driven by higher exports of fruit and vegetable juices and hazelnuts. The value of the exports rose by USD 4.3 million (reaching USD 5.6 million for juices) and USD 4.1 million (totaling USD 15.6 million for hazelnuts).

Several markets recorded significant growth in agri-food exports during this period:

Kyrgyzstan: Exports surged by 3.0 times, increasing by USD 15.9 million.

Kazakhstan: There was a 66% growth, or an increase of USD 8.3 million, primarily attributed to the export of non-alcoholic carbonated drinks, including mineral and fresh waters. These products totaled USD 13.1 million.

Iraq: Exports grew by 2.9 times, with an increase of USD 7.2 million, mainly due to higher exports of live cattle, which amounted to USD 9.7 million.

Germany: Exports increased by 46%, with a rise of USD 4.0 million, driven by higher exports of fruit and vegetable juices, which saw an increase of USD 4.3 million, reaching a total of USD 5.2 million.

On the other hand, as of March 31, 2025, agri-food exports to Russia experienced a notable decline, dropping by 18%, or USD 25.5 million. This decrease was primarily due to reduced exports of wine and citrus fruits.

In terms of imports, Georgia’s agri-food product imports totaled USD 519 million in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Significant increases were observed in the imports of nuts (particularly pistachios), butter, alcohol, and poultry meat. However, there was a slight decline in the import of alcoholic beverages.
