David Songulashvili: “Regional Visits Will Become Regular—We Will Engage Directly with Farmers in Every Municipality”.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, met with local government representatives and farmers in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.
During his visit to the coordination center- created to combat the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug in Abasha municipality, the Minister emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to effectively eradicate the pest.
“We have launched our regional visits. Today, we opened a coordination center in Abasha municipality dedicated to combating the pest and ran discussions with municipal leaders, mayors, and representatives from Samegrelo, Imereti, Guria, and Adjara regions. Their active involvement is essential. Only through collective efforts, we will be able to successfully address this challenge,” stated Mr David Songulashvili.
The Minister highlighted the significance of direct engagement with farmers, addressing their concerns firsthand, and the necessity of frequent regional visits.
“These regional visits will become a regular practice. We will visit every municipality to establish direct communication with farmers. It is crucial for us to quickly identify challenges related to specific crops on-site and implement efficient solutions. The growth of agri-food production is a cornerstone of our country’s economic development, enabling us to sustain Georgia’s positive economic growth trends,” the Minister noted.
